About us

Although Pathfinders Day Nursery was launched in March 2018, the owners and staff have been operating an “Outstanding” nursery setting since September 2015 at the current site at Crescent School. The nursery owners (Alison & Steve Dyke) have operated award winning nurseries for 14 years in the Rugby area and re-branded “Pathfinders” following its demerger from another local nursery.

Pathfinders Nursery is a family operated business with strong family and community values. Our mission is to provide exceptional quality day care for children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years. Pathfinders enriches children’s learning in nurturing, high quality environments both indoors and outside.

We support children to live happier, healthier, more confident lives by providing outstanding levels of play-based care delivered by a skilled, motivated and trusted team of committed Early Years practitioners. We stretch children’s learning potential by using language, collaborative enquiry and experiences that stimulate both critical and creative thinking.

At Pathfinders, children are nurtured and cared for by highly trained staff who are led by a strong team of experienced Teachers and Early Years Educators.

We operate a nursery that:

• is highly recommended by childcare professionals / other parents
• has an exceptional environment – homely, welcoming, safe and well maintained
• is staffed by highly qualified and caring staff
• offers good nutritious food
• offers parents a feeling of reassurance that this is the best for their child
• is value for money

Forest School

We have developed a site on the school grounds in a small wooded area as an outdoor classroom for Forest School activities. Here, children learn by engaging with the natural environment using binoculars, magnifying glasses and reference cards and to develop imagination using open-ended resources. They also develop a knowledge and understanding of personal physical possibilities, control and limitations. They begin to develop a knowledge of risk and the benefits of taking (calculated) risks. Although play and learning in the area is well supervised, children develop confidence and self esteem by stretching the boundaries of learning in many areas of development and realising that they can achieve what they never realised was possible!

We have a two specialist peripatetic teachers who both attend once a week to deliver ‘Sing and Sign’ and Yoga to all children present.

‘Sing and Sign’ contributes towards language development including attention, listening and confidence to communicate.

Yoga sessions promote exploration of senses and improves flexibility and control of the body and mind.

A parent recently commented on the nursery:

“When I went back to work I was anxious about placing my two daughters aged 10 months and 20 months in full time nursery care. I chose Pathfinders Nursery (formerly Nature Trails at the Crescent School) based on their excellent reputation and have not been disappointed. The staff and owners have been very caring and accommodating to their needs and mine, doing everything possible to help them settle in. Over the past year, I have seen my girls form strong bonds with their key persons, while growing immensely in their development, AND they couldn’t be happier! They run in to nursery every morning, and often don’t want to go home when I pick them up! I am always impressed with the range of activities at the nursery, degree of communication between staff and parents, and attention to detail from the owners, who are personally involved in the care of each child. We are lucky to have places for our daughters at Pathfinders Nursery, and can’t imagine trusting anyone more with their care.”
